Mini Stamps

Just a quick post today to show you some mini stamps I've carved from an eraser.

This one is cut from compressed foam. It comes in a flat stiff sheet. You cut out your shape and then dip the sponge into water and allow it to expand into a foam stamp.

Amphorae Prints Part 2

I've now mono-printed over my screen prints using block ink. I just love these amphorae, it's going to be so difficult to choose which 4 to use in my quilt project!

Slashed Reverse Applique Cushion

I was inspired by "Layered Cloth" by Ann Small and "Raggedy Reverse Applique" by Kim Deneault to make this cushion cover.

It's made entirely of "hand-me-down" fabrics and is a great project for using scraps and fabrics you don't like because only small amounts of most of the layers show. I love the edging on this cushion which is prefect if, like me, you are the queen of inaccuracy! The ragged edges hide all those not quite 90° corners and stitching mistakes.

Woven Sari Needle-Felt

I couldn't resist buying these sari silk scraps from the Thread Studio at the craft fair - just look at those colours! I wanted to use them in needle felting. Felt is defined as a non-woven fabric. Not any more!

I slit a piece of acrylic felt and wove the sari silks through.

I used my needle felting machine to felt them together again. All the slits are gone and the felt and silk are now one fabric. It looks great on both sides.

I cut out some potion bottle shapes and then needle-felted them to a wool felt background. One bottle is a bit wonky, maybe it's drunk? I'll sew into them next.

Amphorae Prints Part 1

I've been screen printing these amphorae pots for a quilt challenge. I used a freezer paper stencil overlain with a commercial stencil. I used metallic and ordinary acrylic paints. I'm going to mono-print over the top next.
