Today I went to the amazing "Hanging by a Thread" exhibition by WAFTA members. The show has over 160 textile pieces by 106 artists here in Western Australia. It was great to see work and actually know the people who had produced it.

Here are some of my favourite pieces:

Soda - Art Quilt

This year the WAQA challenge is "Water". I decide to make this piece called "Soda" based on a glass of soda water. I have recently got to grips with curved piecing so I wanted to practise that for the background. The yellow pieces were cut with the help of my new Classic Curves Ruler ruler.

The bubbles are attached with raw edge applique and free motion stitch.

You should be able to see this quilt next year at Quiltwest 2021.

100 Days project 61/100

Another 3 prints today. These are multi-layers of acrylics and Pan Pastel on the Gelli® plate.

100 Days Project - 60/100

I've added lots of hand stitch to my felted and printed fabric piece. It's now been made into a sketchbook cover. Have a look at this post for a tutorial on how to sew your fabric into a cover or come along to Contemporary Quilt Group in July where I will be demonstrating in person.

100 Days Project - 59/100

I couldn't resist doing just a few more Gelli® mono-prints on fabric. The pile of fabric ready to sew is growing enormous!

100 Days Project - 57/100

I'm experimenting with layered Gelli® mono-prints on fabric. These have several layers of acrylic paint and Pan Pastel. They change the hand of the fabric quite a bit but the thicker layers give a crisper print. I'll sew into them soon.
