This is the last batch of hand-dyed fabrics for a while. These were dyed with procion dyes in red, magenta, purple and blue. Most of the fabrics were folded, scrunched or clamped before the dye was applied to give these beautiful tie-dye patterns. These will all be for sale at next Contemporary Quilt Meeting.
Today I went to see the quilts of Marjorie Coleman at the Lyrical Stitch exhibition in the Homes a Court Gallery. There are a large number of quilts on show spanning 5 decades of work. It was interesting to see how Marjorie’s work evolved through several different styles. The exhibition is on until 28th November so be sure to take a look.
The dye pot has been out again, this time using a yellow-orange-red-magenta colour palette. All these fabrics will be for sale at new months CQG.

Today I attended a WAQA workshop on curved piecing by Jan Rowe. Here are my blocks so far. I’ll eventually sew them all together to make a quilt top.
The usual exhibition for West Australian Quilters Association was cancelled this year due to COVID. Luckily we were able to have an exhibition on a smaller scale. The piece above is my entry. It is made with deconstructed screen printing, mono-printing, block printing, hand dyed fabrics, Inktense pencils, foiling, reverse applique, free-motion machine stitch and hand stitch.
