100 Days Project - 54/100

Today I have started sewing onto these block prints which are on a felted background. The felt is multicoloured so I've gone with a brightly coloured variegated thread.

100 Days Project - 53/100

This print started life as a very faint, partial, Gelli® mono-print. I've added acrylics, pastels and collage to make this new composition. Here is the before and after:

100 Days Project - 52/100

Today's print started life as a partial Gelli® mono-print in blues using a stencil. I think it was actually a clean up paper. It was overlain with mono-printing in black to highlight the main shapes. I used white acrylic to block out any sections I didn't like. Pastel and watercolours were added to the background to eliminate the hard edge of the Gelli® plate. Collage was added to the left vase and watercolour to the right one. Here is a before and after picture:

100 Days Project - 51/100

Today I took a Gelli® mono-print which had a lot of white space and improved it with collage and graphite. The vase is a left-over mask that has been used in other prints. Never throw these things away! I think it looks like a wizard's potion brewing room.

100 Days Project - 50/100

I'm late with this post, featuring a Gelli® mono-print on fabric, because it has been so cold here in Perth that the paint has been taking ages to dry!

I'm halfway through the 100 days challenge and it's time to change things up. Because I couldn't make just 1 print a day I now have hundreds of prints! I'm going to spend the next 50 days using the prints and working into them with drawing, stitch and more printing.

Here is a sketch of some vases I found on Google Arts and Culture.

100 Days Project - 49/100

Today I continued to experiment with printing on felt. These prints were made on the Gelli® plate.

My favourite print of the day was actually a clean up paper (below).

For the sketch I drew a few bowls on a shelf. It's surprising how much more difficult it is to draw standing and holding the sketchbook rather than having it on a flat, stable surface.

100 Days Project - 48/100

Today I used one of my previous sketches and made it into this mono-print on fabric. I used cotton for this one but I was keen to see how mono-prints would come out on felt. Usually I use a very smooth fabric to get a crisp print but I love the rich colours of felt. Here are some experiments.

The sketch today was of my car.

Another Homemade Sketchbook

Today, even though I probably already have over 50 sketchbooks, I decided to make a new book from paper scraps. I've kept to black and white for the moment until I decide what's going to go inside.  There's no glue or tape in this book. I attached all the papers together with my sewing machine. I've put some gesso on some pages to unify the blocks of paper or to calm down particularly busy patterns. Below is a flip through, I'll put a cover on later.

100 Days Project - 47/100

Today I wanted to make some more sketchbooks. I used my Gelli® plate and some foam stamps to print this A2 piece of paper which folds down into an A5 book. I kept the colours neutral until I decide what I'm going to add to this book.

Here's a video flip through. I haven't made a cover for it yet.

Today's sketch was of the kids scooter.

100 Days Project - 46/100

Today I took yesterday's mono-prints and added another layer of mono-print in a darker colour before bringing back some white with block printing. I'll probably add another layer of print tomorrow. The more layers they have the more interesting they become.

Today I did another sketch without lifting the pencil from the paper. I like the sketchy, child-like quality they have. This is a walking sandal.

100 Days Project - 45/100

Today's mono-prints were all made with block ink rolled onto a glass plate. Ink was removed with stamps and scrapers and some areas were masked. You can see I got more than one print from each plate.

This pen drawing of the lamp was done without taking the pen off the paper.

100 Days Project - 44/100

These Gelli® mono-prints were made with block ink and hand cut stencils.

Today's sketch was a tricky one - multi-sided dice.

One Gelli® mono-print and one sketch of a cheese container.

100 day Project - 42/100

Today's prints are made with the Gelli® plate. This one above has circles added with a fine liner bottle. The print below is an image transfer of one of my sketchbook pages.

Today I met some friends for some sketching in Kings Park. Here are some of my sketches of buildings, plants and a sculpture.

100 Days Project - 41/100

Today I spent a huge amount of time clearing up the art room which left only a little time for art. I decided to do some art journal pages. This one above has a Gelli® mono-print background. The girls were drawn with Jane Davenport stencils and Posca Pens.

These two prints below were made with foam blocks and acrylic paint applied with fine liner bottles.

Today I drew 3 spice grinders.
