Where Do Journal Pages Come From?
When I work in my journal I have no idea what I want to create. I just put down colours and shapes and wait and see what comes out. Sometimes I can see clearly where a page might have emerged from (like the church picture below), other times some very random stuff emerges like these crazy gardeners above!

3 Journal Pages
Here are my 3 latest journal pages. I've used some quotes and a poem. The face above is a lino cut on a background of acrylics, watercolours and Gelli prints. I added some collage and washi tape with paint pens.
This page above is watercolour, acrylic, collage, graphite and paint pen.
Above is a doodled magazine page from the Foxtel TV guide magazine. I used markers and paint pens.

Fabric Experiments Journal
I've started a new journal to keep my fabric experiments in. The cover itself is an experiment made at the Unique Stitching art retreat (see previous post). I made the journal cover from scrap cardboard in a scrapbook album style with post binding so more pages can be inserted any time. I used my fabric experiment to make a slip cover.
My first page is an experiment with some gilding flakes ironed onto Bondaweb leaf shapes and then free machined. Pretty huh?

Journals - Fabric, Paper and More
I have just taken an on-line art course, Remains of the Day, to make this fabric covered journal. It uses up lots of scraps and plenty of machine stitching. Here's the back cover:
Inside the pages are sewn, not glued, together from lots of scrap papers, Gelli prints and magazine cuttings. here are a couple of the pages:
I'm not sure what I'm going to use the journal for yet.
Here are a couple of pages painted in my regular journals:

I've also been using up tiny scraps of fabric and paper to make these fabric gift tags:

Colour and Texture
This week I have been making some colourful and textured art pieces. Above is a lino cut inspired by Picasso, and below a colourful postcard inspired by the artist Laurie Near.
I've used lots of texture on these fabric postcards which are made from fabric, paper and metal scraps overlaid with organza, burnt in places.
I've also been working on a journal. the covers were made by gluing down lots of textured fabrics, lace, ribbons, paper, dried leaves and texture pastes. It was then painted over with acrylics and inks.
I've also made a mixed media art tag and another journal page.
