Mono-Print Monday - Clean Your Gelli® Plate!
Last week I told you not to clean your Gelli® plate! However sometimes you really do want to start with a clean plate. Usually a wipe over with a baby wipe or a rinse under the tap will do. But perhaps yours looks like this one below. I've been printing paper smaller than the plate so the edges have got really caked up with paint.
A quick and fun way to clean the plate is to use sticky tape. The paint must be totally dry for this to work. Just stick it to the paint and pull it up. Pretty ones (or ones you have deliberately let dry on the plate) can make nice washi tape. Below you can see the dirty plate, the left half has been cleaned with tape which has been stuck to the paper on the far right.
If you really need to get your plate clean there's only one thing for it. Baby oil! This will get anything off your plate. Just pour a little on the plate and rub with kitchen paper. Once it's clean wipe over with a baby wipe to remove any residue oil.
