Mono-Print Monday - Gelli® Do's and Don'ts


Just a few tips today for keeping your Gelli® mono-printing plates in good condition:


How to kill your Gelli® plate – don’t do any of these things! 
  • ·       Leave it on a rough, sharp or textured surface
  • ·       Scratch or stab it with something pointed
  • ·       Melt it with a heat gun
  • ·       Store it with something heavy or textured on top of it
  • ·       Scour it with a coarse sponge or wire wool
  • ·       Clean it with an abrasive cleaner
  • ·       Pour a corrosive material on it 

How to look after your Gelli® Plate – do this! 
  • ·       Clean it with a spray of water and kitchen towel
  • ·       Clean it with a baby wipe
  • ·       Clean it with a little soap and water
  • ·       For stubborn stains use baby oil and kitchen paper then wipe with a baby wipe
  • ·       Keep it inside its plastic sheet when not being used
  • ·       Store it on a flat, smooth surface preferably inside a box
  • ·       Keep it away from heat
  • ·       Place it on a clean sheet of paper or a clean silicone craft sheet when using it
  • ·       Place it on a flat smooth surface to work on
  • ·       Only use soft tools to make marks in the paint on your Gelli®
  • ·       Press lightly with any tools
  • ·       Don’t place glossy papers on your Gelli® they can stick
