Abstraction

Today I'm simplifying and abstracting my cairn landscapes. After all that colourful and patterned experimentation of the last few days I'm simplifying things with some black, white and grey. This (below) is my favourite design - so simple!

None of these are finished pieces, they are not even glued down and the photos are not perfect either. I've been rearranging papers and taking pictures as I go along to choose my favourite compositions. Do I want the hills straight or ragged? Should the cairn stones be rounded, triangular or rectangular? How much detail do I need? When does colour become too colourful?
