Mono-Print Monday - How to Store Your Gelli® Plate
A very quick (but important) post for you today. Above is how to store your Gelli® plate, and also what NOT to do! The best place to keep your Gelli is in the packet it originally came in. It's essential that you keep the plate on a flat, smooth surface because the plate can be damaged by a rough or sharp surface. The plate on the left was left to dry over a log. You can see some deep gouges, lumps and bumps in it where it moulded to the shape of the log. Thankfully the other side is still OK for printing.
Gelli plates do naturally yellow over time and this does not affect their performance in any way. The plate on the left is one of my oldest whilst the one on the right is brand new. The one on the left needs a good clean too to remove paint that is stuck to it. See previous post for ways to clean your Gelli® plates.
